2020
The year 2020 marked the start of the COVID pandemic. As a final-year bachelor's student in photography, my daily routine was intricately tied to being outdoors, strolling through the city or the university. The force to stay indoors not only compelled me to stop my ongoing projects but also altered my enthusiasm to use the camera. During that period, one of the only means to simulate an outdoor experience was spending time on the rooftop of my parents' home, where I spent a significant portion of my time.
Moreover, Contemplating the city's silence, like a dream, became a means to satisfy my instinct's need for solitude. This observation altered my perspective, which was accustomed to seeking out the city's dynamism and movement, toward appreciating the shifting colors of the sky in the spring. The rapid transitions of colors in the sky, allowed me to perceive the fluctuations in our lives through the ever-changing colors.
Furthermore, an absorbing desire arose within me to capture these moments and prevent their fading from my memory. Personally, the ability to recall is intimately tied to visual documentation. In essence, remembering the moments is anchored in re-visiting the photographs and videos captured during those instances. This curiosity about memory and the act of remembering continued later in my artistic process with more focus.
Consequently, I captured pictures during intervals, precisely cropping and merging the final results to make abstract images. It presented a distinctive portrayal of the sky, witness to an uncommon period. In the selection of cropped photos, I considered both the chronological sequence and the nuances of coloring.
